Estilo Ideal

Estilo Ideal formed in Monterrey in the early 1990s, with Everardo Muñiz on vocals and accordion. Their song 'Deportivos Mis Gustos' became a hit in Mexico, pulling them into wider recognition. The band's sound worked traditional cumbia rhythms with pop touches, and Muñiz wrote lyrics that often dealt with ordinary life.

They recorded several albums through the 1990s and early 2000s, including 'Por Siempre y Para Siempre' and 'El Hijo del Pueblo.' Another track, 'El Cincuenta,' also found an audience. The group faced some internal tensions and criticism over their stage shows during that period, but they kept playing.

Estilo Ideal's lineup included José Garza on drums, Alfonso Lizárraga on bass, Luis Flores on keyboards, Juan Rodríguez on trumpet, and Miguel Treviño on saxophone. Their recordings from that era still get played on cumbia stations and at parties across northern Mexico.
