Eternal Madness formed in Jakarta in 1993 with vocalist Hilal Al-Rahkman, guitarists Aldi and Jeff, bassist Dendi, and drummer Franky. They played underground gigs and local festivals, working through the financial constraints that came with being a metal band in Indonesia at the time.
Their debut album 'Gila Sepanjang Masa' arrived in 2001, and its title track became something of an anthem in the scene. The band's lyrics often dealt with social and political themes, which sometimes drew criticism from authorities who found them too outspoken.
They've kept the same lineup since the beginning and have released albums roughly every four years, including 'Teror Politik' in 2005, 'Perlawanan' in 2009, 'Apokalips' in 2013, and 'Kedamaian Abadi' in 2017. They're still known for that raw, persistent energy they brought to the Jakarta metal circuit in the '90s.
