Eugeno Taicuz came out of Romania in the late 2000s, with Eugen Todoran as the vocalist. Their song 'La Calin' arrived in 2010 and got heavy play on Romanian radio and television. The melody had some Romanian folk touches, and it connected enough to push them into the mainstream.
There was some noise about 'La Calin' borrowing from an older folk song, though nothing was ever proven. The band kept putting out albums after that, like Lumea lui Eugeno Taicuz in 2011 and Zbor in 2013. The lineup stayed fairly steady with Todoran, guitarist Andrei Bănuță, bassist Gabriel Bănuță, and drummer Radu Gătej.
They released Iubirea Din Noi in 2015 and Cel Mai Frumos Sentiment in 2017. Their music still gets played in Romania, and you can hear some of their influence in what younger artists there are doing now.
