Evil Poetry

Evil Poetry formed in the early 2000s with vocalist Eliphas Nox, guitarist Seraphina Crimson, bassist Astaroth Infernal, and drummer Leviathan Abyss. Their music leaned into extreme metal and dark imagery, with lyrics that often touched on death and the occult. Their debut album 'Nocturnal Hymns of Depravity' came out in 2005.

That album included 'Bestiality Crescendo,' a track that became something of a calling card for the band. It drew a cult following but also significant criticism from groups like the Parents Television Council and the Anti-Defamation League, who objected to the band's explicit content and themes.

Their other songs, like 'Beyond The Tress Of Te Sacred Forest' and 'Lacus Somniorum,' continued in a similar vein. The band's work was consistently provocative, which kept them in a specific niche of the underground scene where their music found its audience.
