Excesso formed in São Paulo's underground rock scene in the early 1980s, with Rodrigo "Digão" Amarante on vocals, Edgard Scandurra and Felipe Catto on guitars, Fernando "Cacá" Leão on bass, and Sérgio "Serginho" Ferreira on drums. Their debut album "Sexo, Drogas e Rock 'n' Roll" came out in 1986. The band's second album "Não Tem Perdão" in 1988 brought them mainstream attention, particularly with the song "Eu Sou Aquele."
Their lyrics often dealt with themes of sex, drugs, and rebellion, which drew criticism from some quarters. Internal tensions grew between Scandurra and Amarante over creative direction, leading to the band's split in 1991. They attempted a brief reunion in 2003 that didn't last.
After Excesso ended, Amarante found success with Los Hermanos, while Scandurra formed Ira!. Other songs from their catalog include "Não Sei Viver Sem Ti," "És Loucura," and "Tudo O Que Te Dou."
