Expresso 25

Expresso 25 formed in São Paulo around 1970 with Jorge Mautner on vocals, Luiz Melodia on guitar, Sérgio Sampaio on bass, and Nelson Jacobina on percussion. They released four self-titled albums between 1972 and 1975, with their version of 'Cantando Em Bando' becoming their best-known track.

Their music sometimes ran into trouble with Brazil's military government, which was in power at the time. The band's performances faced censorship, and a few members were briefly detained. Their lyrics, like those in 'Cantando Em Bando,' often carried a communal, slightly defiant tone that resonated with listeners during that period.

After their run in the mid-1970s, the group's recordings have stayed in circulation, mostly remembered for that particular song and their place in a specific moment in Brazilian music.
