Extreme Noise Terror

Extreme Noise Terror formed in Ipswich, England in 1985. They helped define grindcore with a sound built on speed and harsh vocals, releasing albums like 'A Holocaust in Your Head' in 1989 and 'Retrobution' in 1991. Their songs often carried blunt political messages, with titles like 'Bullshit Propaganda' and '3rd World Genocide' making their stance clear.

The band's lineup shifted frequently over time. Early members included drummer Mick Harris and bassist Lee Barrett, while Dean Jones handled vocals and Pete Hurley played guitar. Later, Mark Bailey joined on vocals and bass. They kept recording through the 2000s with albums such as 'Hardcore Holocaust' and a self-titled release in 2015.

Extreme Noise Terror's approach was consistently abrasive, both musically and lyrically. Tracks like 'Innocence to Ignorance' and 'Work for Never' delivered their messages with little subtlety. This directness, combined with their relentless sound, positioned them as a foundational act for other bands in extreme metal circles.
