Faber Morais

Faber Morais formed in São Paulo around 2006, with Felipe Moraes as the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist at the center. Their debut album 'Malandrão Via Net' came out in 2010, and its title track became a hit in Brazil. They followed it with albums like 'Boa Noite' in 2013 and 'Festa no Apê' in 2016.

Their music pulls from samba, funk, rock, and reggae, with songs that often have a social edge. Tracks like 'Na Zona' and 'Pérola' show their knack for catchy grooves and lyrics that touch on everyday life. They've worked with artists including Gilberto Gil and Seu Jorge.

In 2015, they faced criticism over cultural appropriation in a song that used indigenous elements. The band acknowledged the misstep and said they'd try to be more thoughtful with their platform. They kept recording, putting out a self-titled album in 2019.

The group includes guitarist Rafa Barreto, bassist Marcelo Perrone, keyboardist Pedrinho Miranda, and drummer Gustavo Souza. Their sound stays rooted in Brazilian rhythms while weaving in different styles, heard in songs like 'Cowboy Neto do Véio' and 'Caracol'.
