In the 1980s, Cavalcante faced a plagiarism accusation over a Chilean song, which led to legal trouble. He kept recording through that decade and the next, putting out albums like 'Casaco de Couro' and 'O Trem do Tempo.' Other songs in his catalog include 'Pretinha D'angola' and 'Cada.'
He worked with musicians like guitarist Edino Krnak, bassist Julio Cesar, and drummer Carlos Bala. Cavalcante was from Recife, and his music drew from Brazilian styles like samba and bossa nova.
