Archive material and source history
Fábio Honey grew up in Jacarezinho, a neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, and started singing on the streets. He was drawn to samba and funk, the sounds that shaped his early musical sense.
In the early 1990s, he formed a band with percussionist Henrique "Fofão" Santos, guitarist Marcelo "Magrão" Silva, and bassist Marcelo "Marquinho" Simões. Their big moment came in 2002 with the song "Amor Pra Queimar," a ballad that became a hit across Brazil.
Honey faced personal troubles, including addiction, and the group broke up for a while in 2005. He was arrested for drug possession in 2008, but later returned to music. The band put out albums like "Samba e Funk" in 2000, "Na Hora H" in 2007, and "Fé na Vida" in 2012.
