Fabio Loyola

Fabio Loyola came up in São Paulo, where he started playing music with friends in the early 1990s. He formed a band called Fábio Loyola e a Banda Loucas Horas, taking the name from what would become one of his best-known songs. Their sound had some of the raw energy of rock mixed with Brazilian rhythms, though it wasn't always an easy fit for radio at the time.

He wrote about things that made some people uncomfortable, which led to occasional public debates about his lyrics. One song in particular, 'Ninguém Me Aguenta,' drew criticism from conservative groups who saw it as promoting drug use. That reputation as a provocateur stuck with him even as his music found its audience.

His ballad 'Loucas Horas' became something of an anthem for listeners who connected with its emotional weight. Another track, 'O Caminho do Sol,' showed a different side of his writing. He kept recording through the '90s, putting out albums like 'Viver com Loucu' that built a following outside the mainstream.
