Fábio Rodolfo

Fábio Rodolfo came up in Paraisópolis, a poor neighborhood in São Paulo. He started writing and performing on the streets there, and by the early 2000s, people were paying attention to his raw, politically charged lyrics.

In 2004, he released "O Juiz É Meu Amigo." The song became a sensation and a flashpoint, with its lyrics criticizing police brutality, judicial corruption, and inequality in Brazil. It sparked protests and debates, with some accusing him of inciting violence and others seeing it as speaking truth to power.

His outspoken work led to legal challenges, including charges for allegedly inciting violence, and his concerts sometimes faced protests and police intervention. He kept performing through it. Musically, his work pulled from samba, funk, and hip-hop, and he played with musicians like drummer Ricardo Vieira and bassist Bruno Sosthenes.
