A São Paulo band that blended punk energy with political lyrics across seven studio albums.
For their blend of hardcore and hip-hop, try 'Um dia quase perfeito.' If you want their political side, 'Memórias de um tal ninguém' gets right to it.
Fábrica Civil's music never pretended to be anything but direct. Songs like 'Memórias de um tal ninguém' and 'Uma nova história' tackled social themes head-on, sparking debate while building a following that appreciated their unpolished approach. Their 2013 album 'O Som do Peso' showed they could be introspective without losing their hardcore foundation.
They formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s, originally called Consolidated before settling on Fábrica Civil. Their debut came in 2004, followed by records like 'A Favor da Vida Contra o Sistema' in 2006 and 'Liberdade Virtual' in 2010. The lineup included Gustavo X on vocals, Fábio Batera on drums, Gilmar Bola Oito on bass, and Thiago Júnior on guitar.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
