Archive material and source history
Factor X formed in the early 1980s around vocalist and songwriter Éric Collado, who had previously been in a band called Rough. They released their debut album in 1984, which included the song 'Drame quotidien' that became one of their better-known tracks. The band's lineup at that point included keyboardist Alain Souchon and bassist Frédéric Perret.
Their music often dealt with social and political themes, which sometimes drew criticism. They put out several more albums through the late 1980s, including 'Ma Ville' in 1986 and 'Exil' in 1987. Other songs from their catalog include 'Putain de soirée de merde' and 'Qui on est?'
Collado remained the consistent presence through various lineup changes over time. The band's sound incorporated synth-pop elements along with rock and other styles.
