Faculdade Mental

Faculdade Mental formed in Salvador in the late 1990s, drawing from post-punk influences like Joy Division and Sonic Youth alongside Brazilian poetic traditions. Their debut album 'O Cidadão' came out in 2002, establishing their raw, guitar-driven sound with lyrics that resonated with listeners looking for something outside the mainstream.

Over the next decade they released albums including 'Se Existe Alguém' in 2004, 'Grilos' in 2007, and 'Be Alone' in 2010. The title track from that last record became one of their defining songs, alongside other tracks like 'Eles Dizem Why' and 'Miseria Na Programação' that captured their introspective style.

The core lineup has stayed consistent with Vitor Brauer on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Faria on guitar and bass, and André Ximenes on drums. Their music maintains a collaborative approach that keeps their sound grounded in that initial post-punk energy while exploring darker themes through songs like 'A Culpa' and 'Badalo Das Horas'.
