The Valediction

I'm looking at this bleak state,

thinking how I'm gonna' walk straight through.

Hoping it'll create,

a stronger mind and better view.

I'm looking at this blank slate,

hoping that the colours reappear,

to paint a picture of the past,

so beautiful, but so unclear.

It's beyond repair.

I'm looking for an escape,

the only one I seem to find is you.

I can only sit and wait,

for someone else, to guide me through.

repaint that picture of the past,

to pick me up, and help me stand.

Looking back I wish you hadn't taken words as pretence,
