Faded Paper Figures

Faded Paper Figures formed in Perth, Australia in 2007. The band has three members: David Hynes on vocals and guitar, Ashley Gapinski on keyboards and vocals, and Salvatore Coppola on drums. Hynes writes most of the material, with Gapinski's harmonies adding texture to the arrangements.

They've put out four albums, starting with Distant Lands in 2010 and most recently III in 2021. Songs like B-Film and Geneva's Gone show their preference for atmospheric, melodic writing that leans toward the reflective. Their sound pulls from folk and electronic elements without settling neatly into either category.

They've toured in Australia and Europe, and once worked with the Australian Chamber Orchestra on a project. The music tends to be quiet and inward-looking, built around Hynes's lyrics and the group's layered instrumentation.
