Faixa Etária

Faixa Etária formed in São Paulo in the mid-1990s with Fabio Sampaio on vocals, Renato Godoy on guitar, Eduardo Muzzi on bass, and Marcelo Dornelas on drums. They came up during a period when alternative music was gaining ground in Brazil, though early on they worked with limited resources and little industry support.

Their debut album 'Espinhos' came out in 1998, named after the song that became a hit on Brazilian rock charts. The record helped establish them nationally. They followed it with albums like 'Marcas' in 2001, 'Ruínas' in 2005, and 'Escrito nas Estrelas' in 2010.

Their songs often dealt with introspective themes, tracks like 'Dois Caminhos,' 'Eu Sei.,' and 'Existo Ou Não' reflect that tendency. The band's sound pulled from alternative rock and post-punk, with noticeable touchpoints like The Cure and Joy Division, but filtered through a Brazilian context. They faced some criticism over lyrics that addressed depression and social issues, and went through periods of internal tension and lineup changes.
