Faking started in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in the late 1980s, with Fabio Zamboni as the frontman. Their debut album, "Longe de Casa," came out in 1989. The next year, they released "Cadê Você," which included the song "Cada Um Na Sua Estrada." That track became a hit across Brazil, known for its straightforward pop-rock sound and relatable lyrics.
Other songs like "Nem Mais Uma Noite" and "Igual Licor" also found an audience, sticking to the band's accessible style. In the early 2000s, there was a legal dispute with former guitarist Fernando Held over the band name, but Faking kept recording. They put out albums such as "Acústico" in 2005 and "Mosaico" in 2011.
Over time, the lineup included members like André Fonseca on bass, Zé Aristides on drums, and Paulo Ricardo on keyboards. Their music, including tracks like "Incertezas" and "Não Consigo Te Esquecer," stayed popular on radio and streaming platforms in Brazil, without much fuss or dramatic shifts in their approach.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
