Archive material and source history
Falchion formed in Sheffield in the early 1990s, playing a raw mix of thrash, death, and black metal. They built a following through independent EPs and relentless gigging before signing with a major label in 2005. That year's album 'Embrace the Void' included 'Black Crown,' which became their most recognizable song with its heavy riffs and dark themes.
Their lyrics often touched on nihilism and societal decay, which drew criticism from some religious and conservative groups. The band didn't shy away from this, maintaining a defiant stance through their music. Other songs like 'Broken Stone' and 'Burning The Gates' continued in this vein, with albums like 'Ashes to Dust' and 'The Eternal Night' following in 2009 and 2013.
For much of their career, the lineup featured Alastor on vocals, Morbid and Abaddon on guitars, and Belia on bass. They kept recording and releasing material, with 'Apocalypse Now' coming out in 2017.
