Fallen Within formed in Atlanta in 2002 with vocalist Eliana Cruz, guitarists Jeremy Purdy and Chris Ridenhour, bassist Troy McCoy, and drummer Joe Johnston. Their early material leaned toward melodic metal with hard rock touches, drawing some influence from bands like Evanescence and Disturbed.
Their 2008 album 'For the Sake of a Name' broke through commercially, debuting at number four on the Billboard 200. It included the track '10,' which became one of their better-known songs.
They followed with several more albums over the next decade, including 'Fearless' in 2010, 'The Hate Room' in 2013, and 'The Search' in 2016. The lineup shifted over time, with bassist Troy McCoy departing and later filing a lawsuit against the band in 2018 that was settled out of court. Their more recent albums include 'Once Upon a Time' from 2019 and 'The Puppet Master' from 2022.
