Archive material and source history

Fama B.S.O. was an Italian band in the 1970s best known for the song "Fame," which was written for the film of the same name. The track became an anthem about chasing stardom and the arts. Irene Cara sang lead vocals on it, with Paul McCrane on guitar and Barry De Vorzon handling keyboards and composition.

Their debut album in 1980 was also called Fame, and it included other songs like "Out Here on My Own." They put out compilations like The Kids from "Fame" in 1981 and Hits of "Fame" in 1982, drawing from the film and the TV series that followed. Other tracks in their catalog include "Lets Play A Love Scene" and "Think Of Meryl Streep."

But mostly, they're remembered for that one big song, which has been covered a lot since.
