Familia Nova Luz

Familia Nova Luz formed in Cruz Alta, Brazil in 1987, a group of young musicians connected through Catholic Charismatic Renewal circles. Their first album, "Nova Luz," came out the following year and established their approach: straightforward songs about faith, hope, and connection. They followed it with records like "Breve Vida" in 1990 and "Graça e Paz" in 1993.

Their music, including songs like "Breve Vida" and "Digno de Louvor," found a wide audience in Brazil and beyond, though not without some friction. Certain religious figures questioned whether their style fit with more traditional Catholic practice. The group's lineup included members like Alexandr Martins on vocals and guitar, Fernando Leite on bass, and vocalists Simone and Priscila.

They kept recording through the 2000s with albums such as "Renascer" and "Esperança," and songs like "Em Mim" and "Nova História" continued in their familiar vein. Their catalog, built on accessible melodies and devotional themes, remains part of the landscape for many listeners of contemporary Christian music in Brazil.
