They were joined by drummer Sérgio Gomes, bassist Luiz Cechinel, and percussionist Camilo Fraga. Their first album came out in 2006, simply called 'Família Spl,' and they followed it with 'Música Para Ouvir Dançando' in 2009 and 'Tudo Bem' in 2014.
Their sound pulls from samba, MPB, and funk, heard in songs like 'No Lado Leste É Ideal' and 'Só no Pião.' The track 'Dias D,' released in 2007, became particularly well-known for its hopeful tone. They also recorded 'Triologia Ideológica' and 'O Tempo.'
They built their audience through steady live performances in their early years. Their music sometimes touched on social themes, which drew both attention and some debate.
