The group includes Johan T Karlsson on vocals and guitar, Anders Nordh on vocals and bass, Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm on vocals and guitar, and Fredrik Sandsten on drums. They released their self-titled debut album in 1994, followed by 'Välkommen Hem' in 1997.

Their third album, 'Det Lilla Livet' from 2000, brought them wider attention. The title track became a hit, and the album won a Swedish Grammis Award for Best Folk Album. Other songs like 'Sångerna Handlar Om Oss' and 'Mitt bästa' show their blend of acoustic folk arrangements with pop melodies.

After taking an indefinite hiatus in 2006, Familjen reunited in 2010 and released 'Familjen 2010' that same year. Their later work includes songs like 'Hon är Fin' and 'Det vet du', which maintain their focus on vocal harmonies and introspective lyrics. The band has continued performing and recording since their return.
