Fantasy Project is best known for "Eye of the Tiger," the song written for the 1982 film Rocky III. The track spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 that year. Their catalog also includes songs like "One More Time (feat. Melanie)," "Alone," and "Crazy Baby."
John Parr wrote "Eye of the Tiger" after the band's initial submission, "Burn This City," was rejected for the film. The group had formed in 1977 with Parr on vocals, Scott Gorham on guitar, Billy Squier on bass, and Dennis Elliott on drums. Squier and Elliott left the band at some point, with Bob Daisley and Barry Brandt joining later.
They released albums including Beyond the Threshold in 1977, a self-titled record in 1978, Beyond the Limits in 1980, the Eye of the Tiger album in 1982, and Wings of Fire in 1984.
