Faouzia

Faouzia is a Moroccan-Canadian singer-songwriter who grew up in Casablanca before moving to Canada at 14. Her music draws from Arabic pop, R&B, and Western classical influences, which you can hear in songs like 'Anybody Else' and 'Habibi (MY LOVE).' She writes her own material and has a voice that can handle both delicate moments and bigger, more soulful passages.

In 2019, she released 'Minefields' with John Legend, which got some attention internationally. That led to her first album, 'Citizen,' in 2020. She's put out other tracks like 'You Don't Even Know Me' and 'Plastic Therapy,' which tend to focus on relationships and personal reflection. There was some talk about her use of autotune around 2020, but she described it as an artistic choice rather than a technical fix.

Outside of recording, she's been vocal about women's rights and social justice issues. She works as a solo artist, bringing in different producers and collaborators for each project rather than keeping a fixed band.
