Farking formed in Lisbon with João Couto on lead vocals and guitar, Diogo Picão on lead guitar and vocals, Tiago Correia on bass, and João Marques on drums. Their music combined Portuguese fado with electronic elements, which drew some criticism from traditionalists but found its own audience.
Their 2005 album Céu e Mar included the title track that became one of their best-known songs. They followed it with several more albums over the next decade and a half, including Terra e Água in 2008, Fado Eletrônico in 2012, Sons do Céu in 2016, and Maré Alta in 2019.
Another song, Faz Tempo, also appears among their most popular tracks. Their work maintained that blend of fado's emotional weight with contemporary electronic textures across these releases.
