Farlla formed in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 2002 as a Christian rock band. The original lineup included Leonardo Gonçalves on vocals, Anderson Freire on keyboards, and Paulinho Makuko on drums.
Their 2004 debut album featured the title track "Deus Nunca Esqueceria de Você," which became an immediate hit in Brazilian Christian music circles. The song's straightforward message and melodic approach connected with listeners looking for contemporary worship music.
Some of their album artwork and lyrics drew criticism from certain corners of the Christian community, though the band maintained these were intentional artistic choices rather than provocations. They continued releasing albums through 2010, including "Estar Perto" in 2006 and "A Essência das Coisas" in 2008.
Farlla worked with other Brazilian Christian artists like Aline Barros and Fernandinho during their active years. Their music found an audience among listeners who appreciated rock-influenced worship with Portuguese lyrics.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
