Farlon & Nelson

Farlon & Nelson formed in Belo Horizonte in 1984, with Farlon Almeida dos Santos and Nelson José da Silva making up the Brazilian gospel duo. They started making music together with a straightforward goal of sharing their faith through song.

Their debut album shared its name with the track 'Não Vou Retroceder,' which became their most recognizable song. The duo's approach mixed gospel with pop and rock elements, which drew some criticism from more conservative corners of the evangelical community at the time.

They kept recording and performing despite that pushback, finding an audience that connected with their sound. The music they made together reached beyond strictly religious circles, appealing to listeners who responded to the direct emotional quality in their work.
