Fata formed in Rome around 2009, with Francesca Michielin handling vocals. Their 2014 single "Fragile" got some attention for its delicate, ballad-like quality. The band's first album was called "Wonderland," and they followed it with records like "Feathers" and "Leaves."

Other members included guitarist Alessandro De Carolis, bassist Stefano Manieri, and drummer Francesco Arpino. They worked together on songs like "L'evidenza" and "La Linea Continua," with Michielin's voice often at the center. Their sound tended toward the atmospheric, avoiding straightforward pop structures.

Some listeners found their music too light or hard to categorize, but they kept at it. The writing was collaborative, with each member bringing ideas to tracks such as "La Sintesi Dell'io" and "La Tua Retorica." They didn't chase trends, sticking instead to their own quiet, textured approach.
