I was in love

I was elated

And devastated

All at once

It was full on

And complicated

Just the way it's

Supposed to be

With first love

I was a fool

Just like old poets

Writing sonnets

In the snow

It was a mess

Melodramatic

And there you have it

Then I grew up and realized

That although first love never dies

There comes a point you wonder why

Like oh my God

I can't believe I fell so hard

All for what I wear these scars?

But I guess it was worth the while

Cause I had a first love
