Felgat

Felgat formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1988, with Lazzo Matumbi on vocals and songwriting. They started playing live shows around the city, building a following while working outside the more conventional sounds of the local scene at the time.

In 1994 they released the album 'Meu Coração Em Solidão,' which included the title track that became their best-known song. The record's melancholic, atmospheric quality found an audience and gave the band some national recognition. They followed it with albums like 'O Fim da Inocência' and 'Entre o Céu e o Inferno.'

The core lineup included guitarist Tuca Fernandes, bassist Paulo Viegas, and drummer João Cabral. They sometimes worked with guest musicians, including cellist Jaques Morelenbaum, who added to their textured arrangements.

Felgat's music dealt plainly with themes of solitude and emotional struggle, which drew both dedicated listeners and occasional criticism. Their sound stayed rooted in that introspective, mood-driven space they established early on.
