Felicio Mendes was born in 1976 in Salvador, Bahia. He started out as a street musician in his hometown before getting a record deal in 1996. His self-titled debut album came out in 1998 and included the song "Te Amo Lili."
That song became a national hit in Brazil. It was a romantic ballad that helped make Mendes a popular singer.
Mendes kept recording after that. He put out albums like "Entre Quatro Paredes" in 2000 and "Amor à Vida" in 2003. In 2000, he was in a car accident that caused serious injuries, but he returned to performing afterward.
The legal case ended in Mendes's favor. He released another album called "O Som da Felicidade" in 2006.
