Ferdi formed in Salvador, Brazil in 2007. The band includes Ferdi Moura on vocals and guitar, Raphael Mendes on drums, Michel Costa on bass, and percussionists Tiago Correia and Irmão Leal. Their debut album 'Ferdi' came out in 2009, mixing samba, funk, and reggae. They followed it with 'Na Pele' in 2012, which brought them wider attention.
Songs like 'Ponto e Vírgula' and 'Coral' show their knack for blending Afro-Brazilian rhythms with a laid-back, melodic feel. In 2015, they released 'Raiz', an album that leaned more into traditional roots. Four years later, 'Som de Essa Gente' arrived as a collaborative project with other Brazilian artists.
In 2016, Ferdi Moura was diagnosed with throat cancer, which paused the band's activities for a time. He recovered and returned to performing. The group also faced plagiarism accusations over the song 'Faro Fino' in 2018, which they disputed. They've kept recording since, with tracks like 'Tecido' and 'A Última' appearing in their setlists.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
