Fernando Cunha

Fernando Cunha was born in 1961 in the coastal town of Cascais, Portugal. His debut album came out in 1987, and its title track, 'A Baía de Cascais,' became an instant classic. The song is a poetic ode to his hometown that captured a sense of coastal nostalgia.

He released several albums including 'O Tempo e a Maré' in 1990, 'O Mar e o Vento' in 1993, and 'Mar Português' in 2005. Other songs like 'A Beira do Fim' and 'A Casa em Sintra' show his range as a songwriter. He worked with musicians including Carlos do Carmo and José Cid.

Cunha's personal struggles with depression and alcohol addiction informed some of his lyrics. This created a connection with listeners who recognized their own vulnerabilities in his music.
