Fernando de Madariaga was born in Madrid in 1956. He started playing guitar early, influenced by his father who was a guitarist. In 1980, he formed the band Los Pecos with his brother Ignacio, and they had some hit singles that brought them national attention.
After Los Pecos ended, de Madariaga went solo. In 1984 he released the album 'Adiós, Hoy Sobran Las Palabras,' with the title track becoming his most recognizable song. Other songs from that period include 'Baila Vanidosa' and 'Una Sonrisa Una Lagrima.'
In the 1990s he faced legal issues related to tax evasion allegations. He continued recording through that period, putting out albums like 'Entre la Espada y la Pared' in 1986 and 'Directo al Corazón' in 1991.
