Fernando e Júnior started in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, with Fernando Alexandre Pires Costa and Luiz Carlos Júnior Lima Netto. Their first album came out in 1989, and they put out two more records in the early 1990s. They worked in sertanejo music, a Brazilian country style.
Their song "É Pra Você" came out in 1995 and became a hit about unrequited love. Other tracks like "Fica Na Porta Mardoqueu" and "Não É o Fim" also got attention. The duo's sound leaned on Fernando's vocals and straightforward romantic themes.
In 1998, Júnior left to try a solo career, which ended the partnership. The split surprised many fans who had followed them through the 1990s.
