His song '6 de Novembro' became known in 1972. It was about protesters killed by the military government. The song's lyrics and melody connected with many people in Brazil at the time.
Maltha worked with other musicians like Chico Buarque and Caetano Veloso. He released albums including 'Fernando Maltha' in 1972 and 'Folclore' in 1974. His band included guitar player Alberto Longhini and bassist Edgard Rizzo.
