Fernando Marquex is a musician from São Paulo, Brazil. He formed a band in 2010 with guitarist Thiago Cerqueira and drummer Gabriel Baptista, taking his own name for the group. Their debut album "Cidade Em Chamas" came out in 2011, introducing a mix of urban folk and alternative rock.
His song "Cidade Em Chamas" became known for addressing social unrest, and other tracks like "Estrela Só" and "Fênix" followed. The band released two more albums, "Ruas Em Chamas" in 2014 and "Coração Em Chamas" in 2017, exploring themes from urban violence to personal reflection.
Marquex's lyrics sometimes drew criticism for tackling sensitive issues, but the group kept playing. They maintained the same three members throughout their run, with Marquex handling vocals and guitar alongside Cerqueira and Baptista.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
