Fernando Santos is a Portuguese singer whose 1998 song "Amor de Fantasia" became a major hit. He formed his band in 1995, drawing on fado and romantic ballads from Lisbon. The group included guitarist Ricardo Pereira among others.
His music often deals with romantic themes, as heard in songs like "Basta o Teu Sorriso" and "Cruel Coração." The band released several albums including "Destino" in 2000 and "Sentimentos" in 2003, though they faced some criticism for being too sentimental.
In 2002, the band's tour bus was in an accident that injured several members. Santos was driving at the time. He continued making music afterward, putting out "Promessas" in 2007 and "Sonhos" in 2011.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
