Festival de Parintins

The Festival de Parintins is an annual cultural event in the Brazilian Amazon that began in 1965. It centers around Boi-Bumbá, a folkloric dance tradition based on the legend of a miraculous ox. The festival isn't a band with a fixed lineup, but rather a platform where various musicians and composers contribute songs and performances each year.

Some songs have become strongly associated with the festival over time. Paulo André Barcinski and Félix Barcinski composed "Uerêrê," a piece that has become something of an unofficial anthem. Other recurring titles in the festival's repertoire include "Amazônia É Boi-Bumbá," "Canto Caprichoso," and "Festa da Ilha Encantada."

Various artists have been involved in creating music for the event. Márcio de Carvalho has performed as a lead vocalist, David Assayag has worked as a composer and producer, and Edson Sardinha has contributed percussion and keyboards. The festival has also released recordings over the decades, such as the albums "Boi-Bumbá: Embalo do Ritmo" from 1972 and "Parintins, a Magia do Boi" from 1992.
