FeTTa formed in 2015 as a four-person collective from New Orleans, with the band's name coming from the first letters of each member's name: Frank Nitty III, Eric Townsend, Timothy Williams, and Todd Matthews. They started making hip-hop together, drawing from the city's musical environment.
It still became popular online, helping more people hear about the group. They put out other projects like The Lost Tapes in 2017 and Heart of the Hustle in 2019.
In 2020, Timothy Williams went to prison after being involved in a shooting. Frank Nitty III had also been arrested on drug charges before that. The group kept working and released Above the Law in 2022.
