Fettuccines formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s, taking their name from the Italian pasta dish. Their music pulls from indie rock, electronica, and Brazilian bossa nova, though they've never been particularly concerned with fitting neatly into any one category.
They've put out albums like Fruto (2006), Paraiso (2008), Contigo (2011), and Baião (2014). The track "11 Dias" got some attention internationally, and other songs like "Bettie" and "Pausa Para Um Café" show their range from catchy to more reflective. They've worked with artists including Gilberto Gil, Devendra Banhart, and Beck.
Their approach has drawn criticism at times for being too experimental or lacking mainstream appeal, but they've mostly kept doing their own thing. The band's core has included Rodrigo Amarante on vocals and guitar, Chico Amarante on bass and keyboards, and Rafael Rocha on drums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
