FHA formed in Figueira da Foz in the early 1990s with four members: Pedro Maia on vocals and guitar, Ricardo Esteves on guitar, Paulo Santos on bass, and Nuno Ferreira on drums. They released three studio albums between 1997 and 2008, starting with "O Tempo em Nós" in 1997.
Their 2002 album "A Caminho do Mar" gave them their most recognizable song, the title track that became something of an anthem in Portugal. Other songs like "Capitalismo e Discriminação" and "Dia-A-Dia" show up in their catalog, though they never broke through to mainstream commercial success.
They built a following playing local venues with what fans described as a raw, introspective sound. Maia's vocals and songwriting anchored the material, with Esteves' guitar work adding texture. The band's last album was 2008's "Tudo o Que É."
