Fidell was a Brazilian rock band formed in São Paulo in 1982. The original lineup included Nando Reis on vocals and guitar, Luiz Berto on bass, Picolé on drums, and Cacá Baralho on keyboards. They built a following through live performances that felt raw and direct.
In 1989, they released the album "Máquina do Tempo," which included the song "Asilado (Máquina do Tempo)." That track became one of their best-known works, a ballad about time passing that connected with listeners. The album's reception helped establish them more widely within Brazilian rock.
By the early 1990s, the band faced some public debate over the interpretation of their song "Chato," with critics raising questions about its content. Internal changes followed, and in 1994, bassist Luiz Berto and drummer Picolé left the group. Reis and Baralho continued as Fidell after that point.
