Archive material and source history
Fieldy is the bassist and a founding member of Korn, the band that helped define nu-metal in the 1990s. Born Reginald Arvizu in Bakersfield, California, he started playing bass around age 12. He formed Korn in 1993 with vocalist Jonathan Davis, guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, and drummer David Silveria. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year.
His bass playing became a key part of Korn's sound, built around a heavy, percussive fingerstyle approach. The band's 1999 album "Issues" included the track "Baby Hugh Hef," which drew attention for its subject matter. Fieldy has described his writing as drawing from personal experience.
Outside of Korn, he released the solo track "Just For Now." His career with the band has spanned decades, though the existing record here is mostly about those early years and his role in establishing their sound.
