Fifth Angel formed in Seattle in 1983 with Ted Pilot on vocals, James Byrd on guitar, John Macko on bass, and Ken Mary on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1986, featuring songs like the title track "Fifth Angel" and "Midnight Love." The record had a melodic metal sound that drew from bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.
In 1988, bassist John Macko died in a motorcycle accident. The band went through lineup changes after that, with Byrd and Mary eventually leaving. They managed to put out two more albums, "Time Will Tell" in 1989 and "The Third Secret" in 1990, before disbanding in 1992.
Fifth Angel reunited in 2010 for some live shows. Their catalog includes tracks like "Angel Of Mercy," "Broken Dreams," and "Call Out The Warning" from those early records.
