Fight Like Apes formed in Dublin around 2005, with May Kay and Jamie Blake meeting at Trinity College. Their debut EP 'How Am I Supposed to Kill You If You Have All the Guns?' came out in 2008, and the single 'Knucklehead' became something of an anthem for them.
They put out three albums between 2008 and 2012, including 'Fight Like Apes' and 'Thes Are Not the Good Times.' Their sound had an electro-punk energy with indie rock melodies, and songs like 'I Am Not a Merry Man' and 'Jenny Kelly' showed their particular blend of wit and noise.
The band went on hiatus and announced they were done in 2016. Their live shows were known for being pretty chaotic, with equipment getting broken and a general sense of mayhem that fit their music.
