Fighting Instinct started in New York City in the late '90s, with Billy Sullivan on vocals and guitar, Dave Thompson on lead guitar, Marcus James on bass, and Jack Radcliffe on drums. They signed to Black Velvet Records and put out their first album, 'Anthem of the Defiant,' in 2002. The title track got some attention, but it was 'I Found Forever' from 2004 that really stuck around, with its chorus about finding forever in an embrace.
They had a few other songs like 'All Or Nothing' and 'Back To You' that kept a straightforward rock sound. In 2007, bassist Marcus James was arrested for drug possession, which caused some trouble for the band. They kept going after that, but things were quieter.
